Imphal, April 07 2015 :
United Naga Council (UNC) on Tuesday stated that after over half a decade, the "Indo-Naga" political dialogue has reached a point when a lasting settlement is eminent while the demand of the Nagas in Manipur for an Alternative Arrangement outside the State Government has also reached a "logical stage" .
The UNC in a statement said that the Government of India has "committed in written" for setting up of a High Level Committee to work out and translate the demand into political reality.
Against this backdrop, UNC said that any situation that "endanger or jeopardize" its established position would not be allowed and warned political parties or individuals not to go against the position either in "speech, written statement, visual display or in action." The council said that failing to heed the warning will be treated as "anti-Nagas" .
UNC has also reiterated that it stood by the 3rd NPC, July 1, 2010 Tahamzam declaration on severance of political ties with the "communal" Government of Manipur" .
UNC also reaffirmed and reiterated the resolutions of UNC Council Assembly and UNC Presidential Meetings.
The resolutions said that Chief Minister and his Council of Ministers and MLAs and "un-mandated" ADC Members "who have been suppressing and oppressing the Naga peoples' rights and its political aspiration are not welcome and their entry in Naga areas under the guise of development programme/inaugurations/laying of foundation stones/seminars/workshops/conference etc.in any manner and whatsoever" .
UNC has requested Naga tribe hohos and frontal organisations to extend co-operation and take up appropriate measures in their respective jurisdiction in the larger interest of the Nagas.
"Any group(s) or individual(s) defying the directive of peaceful and democratic appeal shall be at their own risk", warned UNC.
