Security supervisor detained

Imphal, January 07 2014: RIMS security supervisor was apprehended and detained by police following a stand off between people of Lamphel Khunou and RIMS authority over a land dispute.

Starting from a land dispute, a stand-off situation broke out between people of Lamphel Khunou located across the gate leading to RIMS morgue and RIMS authority since yesterday and it aggravated into an uproar today.

A police team was trying to control the situation when a team of private security men led by RIMS security supervisor Col (retd) Kumar made some provocative statements in front of police.

Immediately, Kumar was apprehended and detained in Lamphel police station.

After sometime, Kumar ran way from the police station but he was chased and re-arrested from near Geet Coffee Corner.

On learning about the arrest of the security supervisor, Head of Anatomy Department, RIMS and wife of the Director Dr Dabyenti came to the police station and secured his release.

However, the OC of Lamphel police station said that there was no case of arrest although the RIMS security supervisor was summoned.

The stand-off erupted since January 6 and the verification process was being undertaken after summoning both the parties, added the OC.
