Curfew clamped at Jiri, Pherzawl

Imphal, August 06 2024:
Citing likelihood of influx of illegal immigrants from Bangladesh into the State of Manipur and apprehension of widespread disturbance to peace and tranquillity and even riot, curfew has been clamped in the entire Jiribam and Pherzawl districts with effect from August 6 until further order.
Jiribam District Magistrate Krishna Kumar and Pherzawl District Magistrate Asish Das issued orders to this effect today.
The curfew will be relaxed from 8 am to 4 pm in Pherzawl and from 9 am and to 3 pm in Jiribam Municipal Council and Borobekra sub-division.
Other North Eastern States such as Assam and Meghalaya are also on alert to check infiltration.
