6 shops gutted in Thangal Bazar fire

Imphal, July 06 2013 :
At least six shops were gutted by a major fire that broke at Thangal Bazar near Axis Bank at around 8 pm today.
Properties worth crores of rupees are estimated to have been destroyed by the inferno.
Personnel of Manipur Fire Service had a tough time putting out the fire.
The gutted shops included three shops dealing in electronic items, two shops dealing in plywood and one Photostat shop.

The exact cause of fire could not be ascertained.
However, the possibly of the fire ignited from a faulty short circuit in one of the shops has not been ruled out.
Several fire tenders including water tankers of Assam Rifles were also utilized in dousing the fire.
