Tamenglong, June 06, 2014:
The attempts of United Tribal Liberation Front (UTLA) to create a new Assembly Constituency by carving out areas from Nungba and Tousem Sub-Division of Tamenglong district is drawing flaks with Zeliangrong Baudi, Manipur (ZB-M) in an emergency meeting held today pledged to oppose the move of the militant outfit tooth and nail.
UTLA chairman SK Thadou has reportedly submitted a memorandum to the Government of India and also the Manipur Government apprising them to create new Longpi Sub-Division and Vangaichungpao Sub-Division and then subsequently to form a new Assembly Constituency by clubbing these two proposed Sub-Divisions.
Strongly objecting to this development, Zeliangrong Baudi, Manipur (ZB-M) has resolved to take up serious counter movement against the purported news article published by UTLA, chairman SK Thadou faction which is in the purview of Suspension of Operation (SoO) for the demand of the creation of new assembly constituency by carving out Longpi area and Tousem area of Nungba and Tousem sub-divisions respectively.
"It was unanimously decided against the mind-set of some vested interest groups for Gerry meandering according to their whim and fancy without the consent of the concerned people and the stake holders," ZB-M stated after the emergency meeting.
Zeliangrong Baudi - Manipur then cautions against the faction to refrain from making unnecessary demand and provocation testing the sentiment of the people.
