Vishwagram team meets Governor

Imphal, December 05 2023:
A group of volunteers consisting of teachers, doctors, paramedics, social workers from Vishwagram called on Governor Miss Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan, here, on Tuesday and apprised activities being taken up by their organisation for the welfare of children taking shelter in various relief camps in Manipur as well as rendering of medical assistance to internally displaced persons (IDPs).
The team conveyed to the Governor that they have already visited 16 relief camps and engaged with children in creative activities like drawing, card making, toy making, origami, games, music etc.
to bring them out from trauma.
They informed that their team checked up IDPs for any health issues and provided medicines and if they come across a patient with serious health issue, then they contacted a local medical officer for further examination.
The team had visited four districts namely Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur and Thoubal.
They have also initiated a campaign for collection of books for children living in relief camps from Gujarat.
The team further informed that during their discussion with IDPs, they have learnt that many of them would like to take up vocational training to earn their livelihood.
As such, the team is exploring training facilities in various fields in Gujarat and may enrolled around 40-50 inmates free of cost for three-four months' training in Gujarat.
The Governor expressed her appreciation and gratitude to the team for their humanitarian services, stating that healing touch and mental peace for the children is the need of the hour and encouraged them to take up more such activities that will bring out the children from the trauma experienced due to the strife.
She also encouraged the team to continue their humanitarian services.
