Imphal, November 05 2016: Soraisam Joychandra, the then Director of Forensic Science Laboratory, Pangei deposed deposed before the Session Court, Imphal West in connection with the BT Road fake encounter case today.

Joychandra deposed before the Court that a letter number 31/10/88 FSL (BA0 339 dated 19 (3) 2010 was shown to him which was an official letter forwarded to SP CBI SC II New Delhi along with one copy of the photographs of the exhibits (fired ammunition) including photo micrograph of exhibits (bullets and empty cases) for examination.

The photographs/microphotographs consist of 11 sheets.

He said that he could identify the letter of SP CBI SC II forwarded to their office.

After the examination of prosecution witness number 87, the Court fixed November 28 for next date of hearing of the session trial.

Three alleged accused of the case failed to appear before the Court today.

They were Y Munal, Debendro and Imran and they filed a dispense before the Court through their counsel.

It may be mentioned that the case was handed over to CBI by the State Government after Tehelka published photos of BT Road Khwairamband Keithel July 23, 2009 incident.

After investigation, CBI submitted a charge sheet against Y Munal, then Officer-in-charge of City Police Station and eight other police personnel of Imphal West district.

Till today 87 prosecution witnesses have deposed at the ongoing trial at Session Court Imphal West and they included SP Imphal East AK Jhalajit, deceased Sanjit's mother Taratombi, ISTV Editor Brozendro Ningomba, Human Rights Alert Director Babloo Loitongbam, founder cum former Editor of Tehelka Magazine Tarun Tejpal and former managing editor of Tehelka magazine Soma Choudhary.

It may also be mentioned that one of the alleged accused, then Head Constable Th Herojit made a confession before local and National media in the second week of January this year that he shot dead unarmed Sanjit on July 23, 2009 inside Maimu Pharmacy along BT Road as per the instruction of his superior officer.
