Imphal, August 05 2024:
Endorsing Thadou Students' Association's (TSA) recent statement denying its association with Kuki Inpi Manipur and the Kuki tribe, the Indigenous People's Forum, Manipur has implored all other Zo tribes to follow suit and dissociate themselves from Any Kuki Tribe (AKT) .
In a sattement, the Indigenous People's Forum, Manipur urged Zo tribes such as Hmar, Paite, Zou, Simte and Vaiphei to heed the call of TSA and follow in their footsteps.
Additionally, the Forum said that TSA's July 29 press release also issued a strong rebuttal against the statement reportedly released by the "so-called Churachandpur based Thadou Tribe Council (TTC)" on July 21 and called for removal of Any Kuki Tribe (AKT) from the list of Scheduled Tribes of the State.
TSA termed TTC as a fake organization created by some unscrupulous individuals, at the behest of anti-Thadou elements with Kuki supremacy agendas.
It added that this organization does not represent the Thadou tribe.
It may be noted that in the same statement endorsed by the Indigenous People's Forum, TSA had reportedly termed Kuki Inpi as the apex body of the Any Kuki Tribe, a "fake universal tribe", that came into being through fraudulent means in 2003 with a population of 28,342 as per the 2011 Manipur Census.
