Imphal, June 05 2011:
"Though I didn't enjoy the comfort of reading in electric light, I'm literally over the moon on thinking my children will now enjoy the facility of electricity", said Charangbou by the sideline of the inaugural function of a micro hydel project at Makui Thebram village in Senapati district.
The micro hydel project which was inaugurated yesterday was taken up with monetary assistance from NABARD.
The inaugural function was attended by Officer in-charge NABARD Regional Office Manipur SV Nimlekar as chief guest and Captain Bhavy of 10th Dogra Regiment as guest of honour.
Many community leaders of the area also attended the function as presidium members.

The micro hydel project installed at Makui Thebram is one such project.
Saying that people can now enjoy the benefits of the micro project, Nimlekar appealed to the villagers to protect the equipment of the project as their own properties.
He said that similar projects would be taken up in different places.
Although the project was formally inaugurated only yesterday, the project had started supplying electricity to the village since June 2 on experimental basis.
Saying that the villagers have never enjoyed the advantages of electricity in their entire life, Charangbou said that commissioning of the micro project was a landmark event of the entire village.
"Children are now showing hitherto unseen enthusiasm to work harder", Charangbou remarked.
He further exuded that advent of electricity would herald a new chapter in the life of the villagers and the village itself.
