Top gun of UKLA held; forgery gang busted

Top leader of the United Kuki Liberation Army (UKLA) who carries a cash reward of Rs one lakh on his head and two other cadres of the outfit have been arrested by police from Senapati in the wee hours today.
Briefing media persons at Manipur Police headquarters this evening, DGP LM Khaute said that the arrested militants included UKLA's self styled president Thangkhosei Guite alias James alias Seiboy alias Max (33) s/o Lamthang of Bunglung village, Kangpokpi district.
The State Government earlier announced a cash reward of Rs one lakh to any one who could provide information leading to his arrest.
The other two cadres are Seigoulen Doungel alias Gogou alias Kenny Gou (31) s/o Lammang of Puleijang village, Kangpokpi district and Lenkhomang Kipgen alias Mamang (29) s/o Thangkholun of Keithelmanbi Ward No 6, Kangpokpi district.

Acting on a specific tip off, a combined team of Kangpokpi district police and Senapati district police, acting under the supervision of Kangpokpi SP Heisnam Balram raided Serena Hotel, Senapati at around 1.30 am today in the course of which the trio were apprehended.
Many incriminating articles were recovered from their possession, informed the DGP.
UKLA S/S president Thangkhosei Guite was involved in many cases of abduction and other criminal activities.
A notification issued by Manipur Police on January 30 this year announced a cash reward of Rs one lakh each to any one who could provide information leading to the arrest of Thangkhosei and his cadre James alias Henkholun Kipgen (36) s/o Somang of Gangpijang village, Kangpokpi district.
However, James alias Henkholun is still at large.
UKLA which has not yet come under Suspension of Operation pact had committed many criminal activities within Kangpokpi and Senapati districts.
It has been learnt that they have also been scheming to abduct businessmen and contractors so as to earn huge ransom amounts, said the DGP.
UKLA cadres were involved in abducting a labourer of Keystone Infra Pvt Ltd and they have close nexus with some other militant groups.
Meanwhile, State Police have discovered fraudulent activities committed by a tech-savvy gang by using forged documents.
On receiving specific information, a team of the Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB) conducted a search operation at Sangakpham Keithel at around 4 pm today .
In the course of the operation, it was discovered that a tech-savvy gang was issuing forged certificates, driving licences, PAN cards, Smart cards etc from M/S Sur Photo Studio, Sangakpham.
It has also been learnt that one Khoibam Joychandra alias Sur (39) s/o Chaoba of Laipham Khunou Maning Leikai was the gang's ring leader, informed the DGP.
On the other hand, Imphal West district police have arrested one KRA (U) activist involved in abducting brick field owner Soibam Dhanabir (70) of Tera Lukram Leirak from Lamdeng Khunou.
The man arrested today has been identified as Ningthoujam Ojit (40) s/o late Joykumar of Tera Sapam Leirak.
Notably, one Chongtham Ibomcha (43) s/o late Mani of Taothong Ayungba Maning Leikai had been already arrested in connection with the same abduction case, LM Khaute informed.
The DGP further informed that one woman was apprehended with two Kgs of opium while frisking commuters at Wangjing Keithel-Heirok junction at around 9.30 pm of April 3 .
The woman arrested by Thoubal district police together with women police was identified as Heijalam Haokip (42) w/o Paokei of Nungtek village, added the DGP.
