Senapati, December 04 2024:
The Joint Action Committee (JAC) Against the Diversion of Trans-Asian Highway-1 (from Tumuyon Khullen to Tumnoupokpi) has appealed the Manipur Government, NHIDCL and District Administration to begin the construction work of AH-1 without further delay.
Expressing disappointment over the silence and inaction of the authorities concerned, a press release jointly issued by T Kabimaningpa John, convenor and M Kennedy, secretary of the JAC maintained that the NHIDCL has failed to initiate the construction work despite inking a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the JAC and the Deputy Commissioner Kangpokpi on February 9, 2021 .
The JAC, comprising all the villages from Tumuyon Khullen to Tumnoupokpi stretch, further informed that the villagers of the area have demonstrated their full support to the project by submitting a No Objection Certificate (NOC) signed by the village chiefs.
In addition, a detailed survey was also conducted in collaboration with the NHIDCL and District Revenue Department to facilitate the construction of AH-1 .
Urging the Govt to ensure timely implementation of this infrastructure project for the benefit of the region and its people, the JAC cautioned that a public movement will be launched in case of non-compliance with the appeal.
