Imphal, November 04 2024: The Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS) Manipur has vehemently condemned the opening of fire at the residence of FOCS Women Wing, Bishnupur District Committee secretary organisation RK Gyandi at Ningthoukhong Gopinath Leikai at around 11.40 pm on November 2 .

In the face of the Chin-Kuki-Zo aggression to disintegrate Manipur, RK Gyandi, as a Meira Paibi leader, has been looking after the safety and needs of village volunteers, said a press release issued by FOCS.

All the Meira Paibi organisations ought to condemn such acts of intimidating one of their leaders.

If such reactionary elements are not taught a befitting lesson, there will be very few or no women willing to work as Meira Paibi activists in future, it said.

Those people who turned their guns on Meira Paibi activists working tirelessly to protect village volunteers are nothing short of reactionaries, FOCS asserted.

Those people who have been threatening Meira Paibi activists and the general public by masquerading as village volunteers must be taught a befitting lesson, it said.

FOCS added that such incidents opening fire and threatening Meira Paibi activists must be prevented in future.
