Awareness programme on 'Violence against Meitei Pangal Women' conducted

Imphal, August 04 2021:
A one day awareness programme on the topic, 'Violence against Meitei Pangal Women' was conducted today organised by Social Welfare Development Agency (SWDA) Lilong Kaleikhong under the aegis of Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW).
The awareness programme was held at the campus of New Life and New Way adhering to Covid SOPs.
President of SWDA, Mohd Lakee Ahmad while speaking on the occasion stressed on the importance of educating the girl child so that they can stand on their own.
He further stated that early marriage is one of the root cause of the various heinous crimes against women and emphasised that parents should take care of the girls so that they do not fall prey to such crimes.
Stating on the need of organising such awareness programmes to sensitise the people of the State, he sought cooperation and support from all for the cause.
Advocate Mohammad Himmat Khan and socio political advisor of MSCW, RK Pramodini Devi were the resource persons of the awareness programme.
Member of MSCW, Lourembam Dayabati Devi, Adhyakshya of Thoubal Zilla Parishad, Hasina Begum, WSI of Lillong Police, Dr Rajiya Shahni and former DSP of Excise, Sheikh Nashir Ahmad also attended the programme among others.
