Imphal, July 04 2016:
Preparations are going on in full swing for the first death anniversary obser-vance of Sapam Robinhood, who died in the pro-ILPS movement last year, at Awaching in Imphal East district.
Addressing media persons today at Awaching, where the body of Robinhood was buried and a memorial complex is to come up, JCILPS convener in-charge BK Moirang- cha said that preparations have been already started for the death anniversary observance in such a way that all concerned including students take part in the memorial programme on July 8 .
Although the construction of the memorial complex may not be completed this year, it will be continued in phase manner, BK Moirangcha said.
He also invited all concerned organisations inclu- ding students and community leaders and the public to attend Robinhood's death anniversary observance.
Rituals, wreath laying and a public gathering will mark the observance programme which will begin from 9 in the morning, Moirangcha said.
A torch will be lighted at Awaching and Ananda Singh Higher Secondary School in the evening, he said while appealing to all public to light memorial lamps at their respective compounds in the night.
Urging Govt and private hospitals and clinics to render medical service on the day for the public, BK Moirangcha also appealed to all concerned firms and organisations to extend humanitarian services by providing eatable items and waters to the gatherings.
It may be mentioned that Sapam Robinhood, a student of Ananda Singh Higher Secondary School was killed in a pro-ILPS agitation on July 8 last year at Hatta Minuthong when police opened tear gas shells and mock bombs to disperse student protesters.
Meanwhile, saying that there is no let-up in pro-ILPS protest, BK Moirangcha said that the JCILPS is ready to resume agitation after Robinhood's death anniversary observance.
The JCILPS will mainly focus on its demand for passing of a fresh Bill for the safeguard of indigenous people of the State in the State Assembly session which is slated to be held within this month, Moirangcha said.
Although the all political party meeting convened by the State Govt resolved to come up with a fresh Bill in place of the PMP Bill, no tangible steps have been seen taken up towards this end.
As such, the JCILPS will submit a memorandum along with a proposed draft Bill to the Govt at the earliest, he said.
Saying that it is very unfortunate for the people of the State that a wanted tag is declared on former convener of JCILPS Khomdram Ratan, BK Moirangcha urged the Govt not to resort to such acts in future.
