AMWJU to launch special sticker for scribes

In a bid to sift working journalists from imposters, the All Manipur Working Journalist Union (AMWJU) has come decided to introduce a sticker for working journalists for easy identification by police and other law enforcing agencies and the public.
President of AMWJU, W Shamjai highlighting the plan to launch the sticker to fellow journalists today at Manipur Press Club, stated that the union will launch the specially tailored sticker 'Press' written on it with holograms and logo.
The sticker will be launched on March 6 by the Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam at the Press Club.
DIG of Manipur Police, Director of Directorate of Information and Public Relation (DIPR) and PRO of Assam Rifles will attend the launch function.
Stickers for four wheeler will cost Rs 100 while it is 70 for two wheelers.
All vehicles used by journalists should be registered in their respective names.
For those vehicle registered in someone's name, a non-judicial stamp should be submitted to AMWJU and those vehicles sold and newly brought by journalists should be well informed to the Union, he added.
He further stated that AMWJU will launch a drive to pick out bogus journalists having valid I-card from the DIPR.
Certain newspaper houses are submitting wrong circulation figure to DIPR to procure maximum number of ID-cards, he added.
AMWJU is set to launch raid to cross check the circulation figures submitted to DIPR by various media houses based in Imphal and other areas of the State.
He also expressed gratitude towards the State Government for allotting land at Lamphel to construct press housing colony for journalists.
