3 BSF men hurt in blast, locals decry

Imphal, November 03 2019: Three jawans of the Border Security Force (BSF) sustained inju-ries in a bomb blast at the venue of a Chhath Puja in Telipati, Imphal East on November 2 midnight.

The injured jawans have been identified as ASI Lalkumar (54) from Agartala, Koram Mahindra (30) and Santram (23) from Chhattisgarh.

According to police, the incident occurred on Saturday night.

The police officials were informed about the blast at around 11.30 pm and the injured were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital.

Reports culled from the area said that the blast occurred despite the presence of heavy BSF and police personnel.

One of the locals, Deepak Prasant, while condemning the blast, urged all concerned to take up ne-ccesary measures so that such incident don't repeat in future.

Meanwhile, it is reported that the injured jawans are out of danger.

A case has been registered at Porompat Police Station in connection with the blast.

Meanwhile, locals of Telipati staged a sit-in protest today denouncing yesterday's bomb blast which occurred at around 11.30 pm.

Vaishya Youth Club Telipati organised the sit-in near Kalimai Mandir.

The bomb blast took place at the time when the people were performing Chhath Puja, said locals who appealed all individuals/groups concerned not to repeat the same again in future.

The incident has caused fear among the people in the area, they said urging those involved to claim responsibility.
