Imphal, September 03 2016:
All Manipur Pre Service Trained Teachers Association has alleged that the recently conducted Teachers' Eligibility Test (TET) for Meetei Mayek did not adhere to the rules of National Council for Teachers Education (NCTE) .
Addressing mediapersons today, general secretary of the association L Baniton said that the TET examination conducted in 2013 for Meetei Mayek did not follow the rules and regulations provided by NCTE.
The question papers did not follow the five sections system.
The norms categorically said the questions of the examination should be multiple choice objective questions but the examination was conducted without giving any objective answers.
While the recently conducted supplementary TET for Meetei Mayek also skipped the norms prescribed by NCTE, he alleged.
Instead of conducting the examination for 150 marks, the exam was conducted for 90 marks.
When the result was declared, a candidate scored high as 104 marks.
This has raised questions on the authenticity of the examination.
The concerned authorities must clarify why the rules of the NCTE were not followed, he added.
Meanwhile publicity secretary of the Socialist Student Union of Manipur (SSUM) N Tanoranjan said that the authorities concerned who organised the examination process should clarify regarding the mark tabulation.
The examination was conducted on August 29 and result was declared on August 31 .
The certificates were distributed on September 3 .
The certificates distributed today should be nullified and the authorities concerned should clarify why there were differences in mark tabulation.
As a sign of protest, the student body also locked the certificate distribution room at the Council of Higher Secondary School office at around 1:30 pm, he added.
