Mapithel Dam tragedy : Two remaining bodies recovered

The bodies of the two other remaining individuals who went missing in Mapithel dam after their boats capsized on April 28, have been recovered by divers of the Indian Navy today.
It may be mentioned that the lifeless body of one of the three individuals, Sagapam Rajiv (36) was recovered by the local volunteers of Ramrei by using steel hooks at around 3 pm yesterday and kept at JNIMS morgue.
From early morning today morning, a team of SDRF, NDRF, divers of Indian Navy and volunteers of Ramrei village resumed their search for the remaining two other missing individuals.
At around 8 am, the body of Ningthoujam Rani was recovered by the divers of Indian Navy and later in the afternoon the body of Sagapam Romesh was also recovered by the divers as well.
Soon after, the bodies were taken to JNIMS morgue for post mortem in an ambulance by a team of Police and Fire service Following the post mortem, the bodies of the three youths were handed over to their respective families at around 4 pm.
Mention may be made that the bodies of the three youths were recovered following hectic search efforts by the authorities and volunteers after they went missing when their boats capsized in Mapithel Dam reservoir in a storm triggered by Cyclone Fani.
On the day of the incident, State police, Fire service and SDRF team launched a search operation and they were later joined by NDRF and Indian Navy divers.
Incidentally the two men were brothers and the last rites of the three deceased were held this evening.
