Imphal, April 03 2013:
The Tangkhul Katamnao Long, Imphal; Tribal Youth Council, Manipur; Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long; Zingtun Tangkhul Katamnao Long and Imphal Tangkhul Shanao Long expressed profound gratitude to the Government of Manipur for its prompt response to the SOS call for bringing back 23 children who were rescued from an orphanage in Jaipur, Rajasthan recently.
A joint statement issued by TKLI, TYCM, ZTKL and TMNL today said they are touched by the noble and fatherly gesture of the Chief Minister who assured to extend possible helps for the rehabilitation of the children besides personally attending them at Takyelpat on April 1 .
The CM also promised to enroll the children in Residential Schools under SSA.
The bodies have also expressed gratitude to Social Welfare Minister Ak Mirabai for her deep concern and prompt action in bringing back the children.
The bodies further appealed the Chief Minister and the Social Welfare Minister to translate their promises into action.
The joint statement also hailed, among others, the generosity of MLA Preshow Shimray who provided clothings to the rescued children while also lauding the roles of TSLD, ANSAM and other organisations, societies, individuals and well-wishers in rescuing the children.
A team of officials from the five bodies also interacted with the rescued children on April 1 at Takyelpat.
Based on the interaction, the team learnt that the children stayed at Grace Home in Jaipur like prisoners where they were denied basic human needs and necessity.
They were also exploited by the director and co-hosts of the Home.
The bodies then demanded that the children be rehabilitated and steps be taken for their education and ensure them safe and secure environment to grow.
