Killer surrenders

Imphal, July 02 2013:
One accused in the murder case of auto-rickshaw driver Laishangbam Deben of Mantripukhri Lamlongei surrendered to Lamlai Police this morning.
The surrendered accused has been identified as one Kshetrimayum Ibomcha (50) s/o late Gokul of Tellou Chana Mamang Leikai.
Briefing media persons this afternoon, Imphal West SDPO Modhunimai said that a team of Imphal West District Police raided the house of Kshetrimayum Ibomcha at about 3 this morning.
As Ibomcha was not found at his home, some of his family members were pulled up.
Subsequently, Ibomcha surrendered to Lamlai Police at about 8.30 am.
After his surrender at Lamlai police station, Imphal West District Police arrested Ibomcha formally.
The SDPO conveyed that Ibomcha has confessed to killing Deben.
Ibomcha is a mason (Bor Mistry) by profession.
The hammer and iron rod found near the dead body of Deben belonged to Ibomcha.
Ibomcha and Deben had certain grudge against each other as revealed by the former, said the SDPO.
He further appealed to the public to suspend the ongoing agitation against the murder of Leishangbam Deben and cooperate with police in investigating the murder case.
