Night landing issues discussed

Issues related to enhancing night landing facilities at Tulihal Airport at Imphal and erecting RCC fencing around the airport were among other agenda taken up for discussion during a meeting chaired by Director General of Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India at New Delhi yesterday.
Director of Transport BK Sharma and Deputy Director Shivadutta represented Manipur in the National level meeting was attended among others by Commissioner Bureau of Civil Aviation, Joint Secretaries, Chairman of Airport Authority of India (AAI), service providers and Secretaries of Civil Aviation of the State Government.
During the meeting, Transport Director pointed out that the State Government has already handed over the required land for expansion of Tulihal Airport at Imphal AAI.
But no RCC fencing has been erected around the acquired land and the volume of air traffic at night is still very low due to want of pressure on the service providers.
Accordingly, from the side of the AAI, it was assured that necessary measures would be taken up and a report in this connection would be submitted to the State Government in a week's time.
Furthermore, in the meeting which was also attended by officials of Pawan Hans, the State Transport Director requested the officials to visit Manipur on June 10 for inspection of the helipads to start helicopter service and development of the amenities for passengers.
Accordingly, while giving the assurance over the visit, Pawan Hans officials suggested that rules and regulations of the Civil Aviation should be adhered to as far as possible.
