Imphal, April 02 2018:
Citing 'unexpected expenditures' LPG distributors have been charging excess money for new LPG connections even though there is a rate fixed by the IOC.
Sources informed that the LPG connection charge for double cylinders fixed by IOC is Rs 2925.When one pays Rs 2925 for LPG connection, one would get empty cylinders but no LPG stove.
Oh the other hand, LPG connection charge for double cylinders fixed by the All Manipur Indane Distributors Association ranges from Rs 8000 to Rs 8500 and they would provide the consumer two filled cylinders of 14.2 Kg capacity and one LPG stove.
The IOC's connection charge of Rs 2925 includes Rs 2300 for two empty cylinders at the rate of Rs 1150 each, Rs 100 for pressure regulator, Rs 50 for DGCC book, Rs 50 for installation/demonstration, Rs 250 for hot plate inspection and Rs 175 for hosepipe.
The price for LPG refill should be paid to the distributor separately.
The current price of a domestic LPG refill of 14.2 Kgs is Rs 800 .
LPG connection charge for single cylinder as fixed by the All Manipur ndane Distributors Association ranges from Rs 5500 to Rs 6000 and it includes prices of filled refill and LPG stove, said the sources.
One key functionary of the All Manipur Indane Distributors Association told The Sangai Express that they cannot follow the LPG connection rates fixed by the IOC as they incur several 'unexpected expenditures'.
The connection charge fixed by the All Manipur Indane Distributors Association is higher than the rate fixed by IOC because consumers are given LPG stoves as well as filled refill cylinders.
Another reason for the higher charge is the 'unexpected expenditures' incurred by LPG distributors, he said.
