Self defence training for NE people next month

Self defence training for the North East people will begin from next month in Delhi.
Delhi Police in the wake of the rising sexual assaults and crimes against people of North Eastern is organizing 'Self Defense' training at Siri Fort Karate Club, New Delhi for men and women from the eight North-East States from early March this year.
The training is being initiated by Tangkhul Shanao Long, Delhi (TSLD) along with other North East NGOs, students bodies, organizations, Churches and fellowship of the North East States in Delhi.
Classes will be held from 3-5 pm on every Saturday and Sunday and during Gazetted holidays, followed by an hour of Hindi speaking class at the same venue for interested participants.
The Training will provide classroom instruction and skills for self-protection, discussions on risk situations, risk reduction, crime prevention strategies, defensive concepts, experimental learning on physical defensive techniques will be imparted by professional trainers.
Certificates will also be given to all the participants on completion of the training.
This training program is also aimed to contribute to empowering women with knowledge and technique to reduce the occurrence of sexual assault and crimes.
The training also aims to make Delhi a more secured city for every women and men of North East by collaborating with the law enforcement agency and the North Eastern communities.
It is worth mentioning that New Delhi has the highest number of sex crimes among major cities, with rape reported on average every 18 hours, according to police figures.
In the latest survey by National Commission for Women, it was found that 86pc of the North East people experienced harassment in the city.
