Sit-in protests staged all across the valley

Imphal, August 31 2015: Soon after the State Government passed the ILPS Bill today, a large number of people held a protest demonstration at Khurai Lamlong Keithel demanding the State Government to transform the Bill into an Act at the earliest.

Organised by the Co-ordinating Body, Khurai, the sit-in protest cum public meeting was joined by around 1500 people.

Urging the State Government to enforce the ILPS in the State, sit-in-protest cum public meeting was held at Keisampat Leimajam Leikai community hall by the Imphal Rising Youth Club, Sega Road Welfare Club and Meira Paibis of Leimajam Leikai.

Demanding early enforcement of ILPS and punishment of police personnel involved in the killing of Sapam Robinhood, Takhok Mapal Women's Association held a sit-in protest at Uchekon Takhok Mapal community hall today.

Sit-ins were also staged by locals of Khongampat Awang Leikai, Tentha, Bashikhong Panthoibi Youth Club, Arapti Maning Leikai Youth Development Association, Arapti Maning Leikai Women's Development Association, Kongba Nongthombam Leikai Women's Welfare Association, students of Loktak Christian Model High School, Moirangkhunou Meira Paibi Lup and SEYA, Thangalawai Meira Paibi Lup, women vendors of Kumbi Bazar, Malom Apunba Meira Paibi, Youth Welfare Club, Malom, Ibudhou Pakhangba Seva Committee and Malom Gram Panchayat, Nambol Phoijing Awang Apunba Nupi Lup, Phoijing Awang Youth Club, locals of Tiddim Road, Kwakeithel Thokchom Lei-kai, Yumburembi Mama Nupi Lup, Thouda Bhabok Apunba Nupi Lup, Kwa-keithel Bazar Nupi Lup, shopowners of Kwakeithel Bazar.

In the meantime, nearly 700 people representing 23 local organisations of Nambol area held a protest demonstration cum public meeting under the aegis of the Yel-houmee Kanba Apunba Lup, Nambol at Nambol Keithel.

Sit-in protests were also held at Koirou Mamang Leikai, Kakwa Naorem Leikai, Lamdaibung, Kakwa Asem Leikai, Singjamei Waikhom Leikai, Mayengbam Leikai, Singjamei Keithel, Chingamakha, Chingamathak, Moirangkhom, Yaiskul, Yaiskul Police Lane, Keisamthong, Keisamthong Keithel, Keisamthong Hodam Leirak Machin (Tiddim Road) and Takellambam Leikai.

Similar protest demonstrations were also staged at Thoubal Keithel, Thoubal Wangmataba, Wangkhem bazar, Thoubal Khunou, Tekcham, Tentha, Pallel, Kakching and Yaingangpokpi bazar.

Over 2000 people staged sit-in-protests at two different places under Yairipok.

Meanwhile, JCILPS Students Wing volunteers along with other proterters at Thoubal lit firecrackers along the roads of Thoubal district today clebrating the passing of the three Bills in the Assembly session today.
