Imphal, July 31 2018:
People's Action For National Democratic Movement (PANDM) has announced that it will support the general strike called by AMUCO, UCM and CCSK from midnight today and has assured that it will support every movement taken up by the associations in the interest of the State.
A press release issued by the secretary information and public relations of PANDM today narrated that during the course of time after NSCN (IM) and the Central Government signed the cease fire agreement on August 1, 1997, there have been many developments including various demands raised by NSCN (IM) and the shift from sovereignty to autonomy.
However, it added that the association views the agreement as nothing more than a strategy by the Central Government to create tension and destroy the integrity among the various communities which have been living harmoniously since the early days.
Since August 3, 2015, the Central Government has been assuring the people of Manipur that the Framework Agreement does not contain any point which can harm the integrity of Manipur and at the same time, the BJP State Government has also been copying the assurance of the Central Government and fooling the people.
However, the contents of the FA cannot be kept hidden for long and today the threat of the Framework Agreement- is becoming very clear, it claimed.
PANDM claimed that in the report submitted by Central Government interlocutor RN Ravi to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on July 19 this year, there is an attempt to implement Article 371(A) in the Naga inhabited areas.
All of these are nothing but an attempt to obliterate the integrity of Manipur by creating friction between the existing communities, it alleged.
On the other hand, the report also contains recommendation to keep the security forces and intelligence agencies on alert in preparation of potential clashes between various revolutionary groups in case an agreement is signed for giving special status to the Nagas, PANDM claimed and questioned the people of Manipur if they believe it is the right time for the State Government to keep mum despite the developing situation.
Lauding South Indian MP Raja for bringing up the issues surrounding Manipur during the Parliament session, PANDM alleged that MP as well as BJP State president K Bhabananda is content with keeping quiet based on the assurance by the Prime Minister that the FA does not have anything which will harm Manipur.
The three MPs representing the people of Manipur have not raised anything for the welfare of the people as if they are all in deep slumber and the time is right for the people to teach these so called leaders a lesson, PANDM conveyed.
On the other hand, PANDM lauded the State Government for scheduling a Special Assembly session on August 10 and expressed belief that all the political parties will take the right decision for safeguarding the integrity of the State.
PANDM also pledged its support to the general strike called by AMUCO, UCM and CCSK from midnight today.
