Imphal, May 31 2021:
10,000 cut flowers bought by MOMA from floriculturist in Purul in Senapati district were brought to Sanjenthong today.
K Devdutta Sharma, Project Director, MOMA personally visited Purul today and brought the flowers from floriculturist in Purul.
He said the florist in Purul had been planting flowers promoted by Horticulture Department and earlier they used to sell their cut flowers to various places even outside the state, but the pandemic has put every means to sell the flowers on hold.

MOMA is coming in to fill that gap and provide a platform for the floriculturists to sell their produce.
The cut flowers will be available for purchased and will be home delivered, he added.
The flowers will also be used to send 'get well soon' cards to COVID-19 patients at hospitals and Covid Care Centres, he added.
One of the floriculturist from Purul Atongba, Meijingam said in pre covid times, they could earn upto Rs 1.5 lakh by selling cut flowers, but the pandemic has put on hold all the business and the initiative taken by Chief Minister N Biren Singh by creating MOMA to serve as a platform for selling farm produced is really a great initiative.
