A young housewife has alleged rape by her father in-law while the latter's son was out of station.

further contending that door of her room could not be locked due to fault, she said her husband left home the previous day without informing her and that the incident was narrated to Phulindro's daughter (married) Premi on the phone.
As Premi arrived hours latter and took her to the former's place, the daughter allegedly told the victim to remain silent as well as not to return to her maternal home.
The victim also maintained that her father in-law frequently ask her to water plants grown at the residential compound even at night if she forgets the task.
claiming harassments by her in-laws, she contended that not bearing male offspring to the Mongjam family and ordinary items brought at the time of her marriage to Mongjam Romen (28) in 2007 used to be frequently mentioned by her in-laws.
She demanded that the father in-law be given befitting punishment.
Baby's mother N Sorojini Devi also told the newspersons she would never allow her daughter to return to her in-law's place and demanded suitable punishment against the perpetrator of the criminal act.
In the meantime, a protest demonstration was organised by the local womenfolk at Mayang Imphal Bazar community hall today after which the protestors tried to storm Mayang Imphal police station, where Phulindro is being held.
