Womens' group rebuffs allegations

Apunba Mayai Kaba Chinjak Thingba Lup, Keinou Thongkha Makha Leikai has clarified that the allegations raised by MLA Dr I Ibohalbi, INC candidate in Oinam AC for the ensuing Assembly election and his supporters against the organisation in local media is baseless and concocted.
Addressing a press meet held at Keinou Thongkha yesterday, president of the anti-drugs organisation, Ahongsangbam Shanti said that a feast in connection with the coming election was organised at the residence of one Ngangom Lukhoi (50) wherein quarrels amongst some people occurred.
She said that members of the organisation went to the residence to ask the people to not create unwanted scenes but they were attacked by Lukhoi and his wife.
She said that one of the members namely Ahongsangbam Joymati suffered injuries on her right hand in the attack.
She claimed that Naorem Deben (48), Nongthombam Bishambor (43), Leishangthem Ingocha (40), Thoudam Sobha (44) and Ahongsangbam Hemanta (49) were present at the feast.
Shanti said that N Pakchao (52) and A Sharat (48) were handed over to police for creating unwanted scenes under the influence of alcohol.
Members of the organisation did not snatch money from the two persons as claimed by the MLA and his supporters.
Statements made by Lukhoi and Deben in some local dailies regarding the incident are all false and fabricated, she clarified.
Saying that MLA Ibohalbi has wrongly termed members of the organisation as supporters of BJP, she appealed to all to not create such incident in the locality in the future.
