Kohima, January 03:
A Naga Hoho Coordination Committee delegation will meet the NSCN (IM) leaders at Bangkok to further consolidate the reconciliation process launched last month, following an invitation from the underground outfit last month.
Some members of the Coordination Committee delegation comprising representatives from tribal councils, churches and NGOs were leaving for Bangkok today while the rest would start tomorrow, Naga Hoho president M Vero told PTI.
Two days after the formal inauguration of the reconciliation process on December 20, the NSCN (IM) invited the Hoho Coordination Committee for consultations in the first week of January.
The Coordination Committee in a statement said the invitation from NSCN (IM) has widened the opportunity for exploration of possibilities for evolving the consensus needed for an amicable settlement of the vexed political problem.
Appreciating the NSCN (IM)s move, Naga Hoho said it was ready to meet all the Naga groups for evolving a consensus and was committee to pursuing its goal of reconciliation in the Naga family.
Nagas irrespective of their ideological affiliations had adopted a declaration on December 20 at Kohima, pledging to work for peace and reconciliation among themselves, and asserted that this would precede the political settlement of the vexed Naga issue.
Welcoming the month-long ceasefire offer by the NSCN (K) to the rival groups before the Christmas, the apex tribal council called upon NSCN (IM) to reciprocate positively to the gesture so that a joint search for an acceptable solution by all Nagas may be started without further delay.
Meanwhile, chief minister SC Jamir today said the Nagas should understand the term reconciliation in proper perspective considering the ground realities.
Nagas must reconcile the process with reality and consider all aspects.
