Senapati bus service resumes

The Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills and other Kuki civil bodies at a meeting convened yesterday afternoon at Kangpokpi decided to allow passenger carriers plying between Senapati to Imphal to resume service with immediate effect after the KTU, NSCN/GPRN revoked its decision of "collecting donations" .
The KTU, NSCN/GPRN also issued a clarification through some dailies, consequent to which the Kuki bodies resolved to allow resumption of bus service.
The Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills and other Kuki civil bodies denouncing notifications of KTU, NSCN/GPRN served to some Kuki villages chiefs and bus owners belonging to the Kuki community and plying between Senapati and Imphal had imposed ban on bus service through Kangpokpi for the past 4/5 days.
Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills president Chungkam Haokip said that as the KTU, NSCN/GPRN decided to revoke its decision of collection donations and withdrew meeting summons, "we had a meeting today at Kangpokpi and decided to revoke the ban on Senapati to Imphal bound passenger services and subsequently allow them to resume their respective activities" .
appreciating cooperation of Senapati to Imphal bound passenger bus owners and drivers and opposing intention of the KTU, NSCN/GPRN that had the potential of sparking unrest in the area, Chungkam expressed that KTU retracting from its stand will certain facilitate restoration of harmony and peace among the tribal communities.
The firm decision of the Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills and other civil bodies as well as the cooperation of the bus owners and drivers opened the eyes of the KTU, NSCN/GPRN to realise that prejudiced mindset and vested decision always add to burden of to the innocent people, maintained the inpi chief and expressed hope that the KTU, NSCN/GPRN will not indulge in such activities in future.
In the meantime, Chungkam also warned the KTU NSCN/GPRN to refrain from all activities that can cause communal tension.
