MSFDS to honour 31 pioneers of Manipuri Cinema

As part of the year-long Golden Jubilee Celebration of Manipur Cinema, the Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS) is all set for its second phase of honouring pioneers of Manipuri Cinema on December 31 at MSFDS Palace Auditorium, Palace Gate, Imphal.
Governor, La Ganesan and Rajya Sabha MP Sanajaoba Leishemba will be the chief guest and functional president of the programme, said MSFDS in a statement.
Screening of two critically acclaimed films, Romi Meitei's 'Motsillaba Mingsel' and Ningthouja Lancha's 'Mami Sami' will be the special attraction of the programme, it said.
'Honouring the Pioneers Programme' is a special feature of the year-long celebration being held phase-wise to honour the pioneers, who have contributed significantly in the growth of Manipuri cinema, it said.
Altogether 31 pioneers are to be honoured by the chief guest and president of the function respectively, said MSFDS while also extending invitation to all interested persons to attend the programme and join hands in honouring the pioneers of Manipuri Cinema.
The ongoing celebration of 50 years of Manipuri Cinema has been designed as a tapestry of film events to support film practice in Manipur at all levels for advancing the present status to the next level of sustainable growth, it said.
During the 8-day inaugural program of the Golden Jubilee Celebration, held from April 9 to April 18, altogether 17 pioneers including Deb Kurnar Bose, director of the first Manipuri Feature film, 'Matamgee Manipur'; Manipuri filmmaker, Aribam Syam Sharma; actors, Yengkhom Roma, Ksh Rashi Devi and Kangabam Tomba; screenwriter/filmmaker/activist/actor, Arambam Lokendra and others, it recalled.
