Norms violation slur on MPSC

Imphal, September 29 2011:
Some candidates who had appeared in the recently conducted Manipur Civil Services Combined Competitive Examination have applied for relevant information regarding excess number of candidates who are to appear in the Main Examination of the recruitment exercise.
Speaking to The Sangai Express on condition of anonymity some candidates pointed out that contrary to prescribed norms limiting number of candidates to 690 for appearing the Main Examination 725 candidates were declared as eligible when the Manipur Service Commission announced the preliminary test result on September 24 .
Presenting documents possessed by the candidates after invoking Right to Information (RTI) Act they highlighted that as per MPSC norms, 'The number of candidates to be admitted to the Main Examination will be five (5) times the total approximate number of vacancies to be filled in the year in various services and posts', and suggested that excess of 35 number of candidates deserves an explanation as there are only 138 vacant posts.
In addition to the MPSC remaining silent on erroneous inclusion of a question in the preliminary examination, neither are roll numbers of candidates rejected from appearing in the preliminary examination officially declared nor have marks secured by top ranking candidates made public.
