Scarcity of rain worries Thoubal farmers

Thoubal, June 29 2012:
Around 30 hectares of cultivable land remained idle due to scarcity of monsoon rain in Khangabok AC of Thoubal district which became a headache for many farmers.
Khangabok Zilla Parishad member, Kh (O) Kumari has visited the fields today to personnaly oversee the dry fields in Khangabok AC .
It may be mentioned that area in questioned had experienced bad harvest last year due to overflooding of the area.
The scarcity of monsoon rains has sent panic among the farmers this year.
The only option left for the farmers is to irrigate water from nearby rivers like Arong , Wangjing, Ekopkhong rivers.
The Zilla Parishad member has drawn the attention of the concerned authority to redress the grievances faced by the farmers.
