Media persons offered free rides

Uripok-Kangchup Auto Mega Diesel Association has stated that media persons will not be charged for riding in any of the autos operating under the association.
Ch Chaoba, president of UKRAMDA, announced the initiative at the 10th foundation day of the association held at a community hall at Kadangband Part II.
He said that the step was taken in order to show gratitude to the media persons for their hard work and sacrifice for the people and also as a new year gift.
He also wished that the coming new year bring a bandh free and peaceful Manipur.
Sekmai A/C MLA Kh Devendro and Zilla Parishad member Konthoujam Suniti attended as the chief guest and guest of honour at the event which Ch Chaoba presided.
The association also awarded prizes to six selected meritorious students from the areas under its operation and announced free fare for the students when they go to their institutions.
Cultural songs and dances of various communities living at the area were also shown at the function.
Speaking at the event, MLA Devendro expressed satisfaction with the public service of the association and also pointed out that the conditions of various villages in Sekmai A/C have improved greatly.
"The economic blockade has resulted in scarcity of bitumen.
As soon as the blockade is lifted, the roads will be repaired as soon as possible," he added.
