Ukhrul, April 28 2016:
The Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) has threatened to picket/close all Government establishments and offices in Ukhrul district from May 3 while imposing an indefinite ban on vehicular movement on Ukhrul- Imphal road from midnight of May 2 in protest against the Government's failure to fulfil the charter of demands put up before the Government of Manipur.
The TNL has also strongly reacted against the abduction and brutal murder of truck driver PA Chinaoshang, who was engaged to transport stone and sand in the ongoing PMGSY road construction work from Sinakeithei to Leisan village, Ukhrul.
According to TNL, a copy of the memorandum addressed to the Governor of Manipur was submitted to the Government and the TNL also met the Governor on April 22 and highlighted the matter.
However, till date no positive response has come from the State Government, said the TNL and added that the indifference of the Government has forced it to decide to picket all Government offices in Ukhrul from May 3 while all vehicular movement on the Ukhrul-Imphal road would be banned indefinitely from May 2 .
TNL president Weapon Zimik said they have already appealed to UNC leaders to support the agitation and added that it (UNC) has been urged to impose an indefinite economic blockade in case the State Government fails to respond to the charter of demands in time.
The TNL had demanded immediate arrest of all those who were involved in the murder of PA Chinaoshang.
Investigate the nature of murder and find out all those involved in the murder and book them according to law.
Sufficient ex-gratia should be paid to the family, wife and children without further delay since PA Chinaoshang was the sole bread winner of the family.
The TNL president further said the kingpin Thanglun (name changed) involved in the abduction and murder of PA Chinaoshang hails from Gangpikon village while the body of Chinaoshang was found buried at Lhangnom village.
These two villages concealed the matter for long, said Weapon Zimik.
Medical, water supply and electricity would be exempted while picketing/ besieging the Govt offices in Ukhrul.
