Imphal, December 26 2014 :
The Government's failure to take up befitting action against Ministers and officers who have opened luxury car showrooms in the State is a stark reminder of misgovernance prevailing in the State, alleged BJP State unit president Th Chaoba.
Speaking at a one-day political conference cum mass enrolment programme at Ningthou-khong today, Chaoba said that Chief Minister O Ibobi was happily sipping tea at the opening function of a luxury car show room without even bothering to know who was the owner of the car show room.
Even though the Government is aware of some Ministers and officers opening show rooms of luxury and expensive cars, it is unable to take up any action.
Reminding about the Government's announcement to declare properties and assets of all Ministers and MLAs which was followed by constitution of a committee to look into the matter, Chaoba asked the Ministers and MLAs who are holding them back from declaring their properties and assets.
He also expressed fear that the proposed sports university may be taken to another State because of the Government's adamant stance to build the sports university in Thoubal district where there is strong public objection.
Many Congress Governments which were ruling different big States of India have been toppled by the sweeping Modi wave.
Those Congress Governments would never rise again.
Many leaders of the State's Congress Government are unable to sleep as they foresee Congress party's downfall in Manipur too, Chaoba asserted.
Whereas prices of diesel and petrol were hiked repeatedly during the Congress regime, the same prices have been cut down many times since BJP-led NDA came to power, much to the relief of all the people of India.
Exuding that the series of mass enrolment programmes organised at different parts of the State recently would bolster the party's support base in the State, Chaoba claimed that more than one lakh people have been enrolled in the hill districts.
A large number of people are enthusiastic to join BJP in the valley too.
Former BJP State unit vice-president Prof H Tiken said that party's membership strength has swollen beyond expectation even though the party no MLA or MP in the State.
BJP was elected to power because of the many scandals which tainted many Ministers of the UPA Government including the PMO coupled with the people's desire to set up a clean and accountable Government.
He also called upon the gathering to help BJP transform its vision into action.
