Truck driver rescued

An Imphal bound truck driver was rescued by the Assam Rifles from Nagaland and also two NSCN-IM officials were also arrested by the forces in two separate incidents.
In the first incident, troops of 37 Assam Rifles rescued Md Nasir Husain, an Imphal bound truck driver from the clutches of two suspected underground cadres in the general area of Medziphema, off Dimapur along Dimapur-Imphal road.
The incident happened on Sunday evening.
According to the Assam Rifles, the truck driver was kidnapped by one Hokato Chishi Sema, 30 years and one Akihoto Sema, 28 years, both from Shitoi, Dimapur while the driver was driving his truck from Guwahati to Imphal.
The kidnappers who were travelling in a red Maruti car overtook the truck and overpowered the driver.
He was then made to sit in the Maruti car.
While the Maruti car was returning to Dimapur, it was stopped by Assam Rifles search party four km short of Medziphema.
The source then said on noticing the suspicious activity inside the car, the occupants were questioned and details of nefarious activities of the two abductors came to light.
It was revealed during questioning that after abduction the individual was to be taken to Burma Camp and handed over to another suspected cadre namely Mr Obed and kept in custody till ransom money was paid.
The rescued truck driver was identified as Md Nasir Husain (38), s/o Md Rahmtullah, a resident of Yairipok, Imphal East (Manipur) .
During this operation one red colour Maruti-800 Car (Regd No.6385), Rs 1,230 in cash, two mobile phones and other incriminating documents were recovered from the apprehended persons.
The rescued driver and the apprehended cadres were handed over to Medziphema Police Station, the Assam Rifles source said.
In a separate incident, acting on a tip off regarding illegal tax collection being undertaken by NSCN (IM) cadres in general area Burma Camp in Dimapur an operation was launched by the troops of 29 Assam Rifles to nab the tax collectors on last Saturday.
The tax collectors were apprehended while they were in the process of collecting money from one of the shops in the market of Burma Camp, Dimapur.
According to the Assam Rifles source, during search of the cadres, unaccounted money and tax collection receipts of NSCN (IM) were found with the cadres.
The arrested cadres are Inache, resident of Aghulito village and Asesha Awomi, resident of Aghili village in Zunheboto.
Inache claimed that he was working as a SS Deputy Secretary of NSCN (IM) and Asesha Awomi claimed that he was working as a SS Assistant Section Office of NSCN (IM).
Both the underground cadres were later handed over to the East Police Station, Dimapur by 29 Assam Rifles, the source added.
