Imphal, October 26 2012:
The Government of Manipur has decided to seek a month's time for submission of DPR for obtaining the second batch of semi-low floor buses under JNURM.
According to an official source, a meeting of the Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (UMTA) was held today at the Transport Minister's house.
Significantly, the Transport Minister is the chairman of UMTA.
The Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India earlier asked the State Government to submit a DPR by October 31 if the State Government desires to take 11 more semi-low floor buses under JNURM.
But the Transport Department, occupied with finalising the process of operating the 14 semi-low floor buses given in the first batch under public-private partnership model, could not complete the DPR for the second batch.
After discussing all these points today, UMTA decided to appeal to the Centre to extend the deadline for submitting DPR by one month.
Notably, the second tender for operating the semi-low floor buses was held on October 20 and the sealed tender forms would be opened on October 29 .
