Varsity gala event Manfete 2012 begins

The three-day Manfete-2012, the annual Management Faculty Festival of Manipur university, hosted by Manipur Institute of Management Studies (MIMS) got underway at the Centenary Hall of the varsity.
The event themed , with Assam Rifles as the organising partner for the first time ever, was inaugurated today by the Vice Chancellor in-charge of MU Prof L Tombi and MIMS Director Dr L Jibon as the chief guest and functional president respectively while Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) Maj Gen UK Gurung, Dean of Social Sciences Prof Amar Yumnam and Dean of Students Welfare Prof Th Ratankumar graced the occasion as the guests of honour.
During the three-day festival, which will feature 15 different events including some entitled as 'unplugged', 'MIMS dare-you', 'Treasure Hunt', 'Dance (solo/group), 'fashion parade', student participants will be showcasing their talents.

speaking at the occasion, MIMS Director Dr Jibon said the student community had been taking the lead in organising the annual event since 1996, with the teaching faculties limited to providing the morale support.
The students are being encouraged to host such an event on their own to personally experience both challenges and exuberance of conducting such an event.
The 28 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under the aegis of HQ IGAR (S) is sponsoring and assisting MIMS students in organising their college festival which will continue till March 28 .
In his address, Maj Gen UK Gurung mentioned that the event is a beginning of new era of bonding between youth of Manipur and the uniformed forces.
He also reiterated the AR pledges to give maximum assistance to the people of Manipur, specially to the youth and exhorted the people to come forward and move progressively towards peace and prosperity, with the assurance that full support and cooperation of Assam Rifles will be ensured.
During MANFETE 2012 an Assam Rifles pavilion established by 28 Assam Rifles was inaugurated by Maj Gen U K Gurung.
The pavilion is showcasing the history of Assam Rifles and its contribution in Manipur, besides providing guidance to the students, how to join Armed Forces.
Pamphlets giving out details of how to join Armed Forces and contribution of Assam Rifles in Manipur were also distributed to the visitors.
