Imphal, November 25 2011:
Apparently hinting at discordance within the organisation, leaders of Yaiskul Block Congress Mahila and Youth fronts have threatened that members would withdraw enmasse in case higher authorities of the political organisation do not invalidate claim of support to the younger brother of the late E Suraj, E Chand by an allegedly minority section of the Block Congress.
Addressing the media along with the Committee's Youth president Th subhashchandra at Manipur Press Club today, Mahila Committee president Th Keinatombi proclaimed that the recent declaration of support to the intending candidate from some members of Committee is a decision by a handful of member.
Invalidating the claim of support to Chand, who is the younger brother of deceased Yaiskul AC MLA E Suraj, Keinatombi disclosed that the Block Committee had already adopted a stand to propose Th Satyabrata, E Chand and H Jaydeva for the State/Central Congress leaders to decide who would contest as the Congress candidate from Yaiskul AC in the forthcoming 10th State Legislative Assembly.
claiming that only about 51 members out of the Block's total of 899, were behind the declaration of support to E Chand, she regretted that some disgruntled elements in the Committee had transgressed the Congress party's principle of the high command deciding on who will be contesting as the party nominees in their respective assembly constituencies.
Reiterating her appeal to the party high command to act accordingly in order to prevent further dissension in the organisation, she asserted that failure to evoke a positive response will compel the majority-members to withdraw membership.
