IMFL cases seized

As a apart of the continued drive against alcohol in the State, a team of Jiribam district police seized a large number of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) which were concealed among sacks of potatoes and onions aboard a goods carrying truck yesterday night.
Briefing media persons, Jiribam district SP M Mubi Singh said that yesterday, at around 11 pm, the police team was conducting frisking and checking of vehicles at Jiribam FCP gate when they stopped one Tata truck (AS25C-5344) .
Upon searching the truck, the police found a large number of IMFL concealed among sacks of potatoes and onions.
The SP continued that a total 309 cases (6156 bottles) of Old Monk Rum (180 ml, 375 ml and 750 ml), Mc Dowell's No 1 Whisky (375 ml and 750 ml), Kingfisher beer (650 ml), Kingfisher cane beer (500 ml), Tuborg beer (650 ml) and Tuborg can beer (500 ml) were seized and added that the driver has been identified as one Khwairakpam Romesh Singh (28) s/o (L) Kh Lalit Singh of Awang Sekmai Mayai Leikai.
The SP informed that it was revealed that the seized IMFLs were loaded from Nalapara, Guwahati, to be transported to Imphal.
The owner was yet to be identified at the time of filing this report.
The seized items have been handed over to the Excise Department for further necessary proceedings, he added.
