Imphal, July 25 2022: An IED was found in front of the gate of Keirao GP pradhan Kangabam Chourjit alias Toma of Langdum Maning Leikai under Irilbung police station.

Police source said that the powerful IED was spotted by family members around 8.30 pm Sunday.

After a team of Irilbung police station cordoned off the area to prevent any casualty, a bomb disposal squad retrieved and exploded it safely in Awaching area.

A case has been registered at Irilbung PS.

Meanwhile, locals of Langdum Maning Leikai on Monday organised a protest against the bomb threat to the pradhan's family.

Interacting with media, local Meira Paibi member Ayekpam Benu said that the IED was placed in a residential area near the local playground.

Strongly condemning the heinous act and demanding public clarification, she also appealed to all concerned to refrain from such acts in future.
