Imphal, October 23 2019:
Manipur Peoples' Party (MPP) has lashed out at the Naga People's Front (NPF) for its claim that the resolution taken during the all political party meeting yesterday was manipulated, and dubbed the NPF as a political party sans any ethics.
Speaking to media persons at its office at Mapal Kangjeibung today, MPP president Oinam Jugindro termed the NPF's claim as rather uncivilised and uncalled for.
Jugindro narrated that yesterday, an all political party meeting was held at the CMO (Chief Minister's Office) in connection with the threat posed by the peace talk between the NSCN (IM) and the Government of India, and added that three resolutions were adopted during the meeting.
The first resolution was to stand firm and protect the integrity and boundary of Manipur, he said, claiming that NPF's representatives were also present during the meeting.
However, not long after, NPF began claiming that the resolutions were manipulated, which is highly condemnable and shows a completely lack of responsibility.
Now this situation has given rise to the question as to whether NPF was established to destroy Manipur, Jugindro lamented.
Asking NPF to take back its statement/claims immediately, the MPP president demanded the party (NPF) to abandon its role in the coalition Government if it fails to withdraw its statement.
Words or statements made by the Chief Minister are for the people as he represents them.
The NPF's antics of wanting to enjoy the benefits of being in power in the Government and yet speaking against the statements or resolutions made by the leaders of the Government, is extremely disappointing, Jugindro said.
He continued that the MPP will stand firm to protect the integrity and boundary of Manipur and this resolve of the party is also present in its Constitution.
MPP warmly welcomes a conclusion to the peace talk between the GOI and the NSCN (IM) .
However, no solution to the peace talk should be allowed to harm the interest of Manipur in anyway, he cautioned.
Members of Trinamool Congress, RSP, Democratic Bharatia Samaj Party and NCP who were also present at the meet also expressed similar views.
