Imphal, June 23 2013:
Demanding release of pending salaries within July 15, workers of Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) have threatened to launch various forms of agitation in case authorities concerned do not take positive measures to honour their demand.
briefing media persons at Manipur Press Club today to highlight plight of the workers, All Manipur ICDS Employees' Union general secretary S Nirvarani said many out of the total of 679 ICDS employees are yet to receive their salary for 12 months while the remaining have not been paid for eight months.
The salary package for the period 2012-13 are supposed to be distributed in four instalments but after partial payment in three instalments there is no sign of when the fourth would be released, said the secretary while adding that the salary package is 90 percent central Government assistance through the Ministry of Women and Child Welfare and 10 percent borne by the State Government.
Informing that employees/workers implementing ICDS projects in Kakching, Wangoi and Mao-Maram blocks are the worst affected for their salaries have not been released for eight to 10 months, Nirvarani also expressed that differences in the pendency period had been breeding ill-will amongst the employees.
besides submission of memorandums employees' representatives had called on the officials concerned to highlight the problem but there has been no positive response till date, said the secretary who reiterated that the employees would be constrained to launch agitation in case the demand is not conceded within July 15 .
