Chandel, May 23 2016:
Kuki civil society organizations of Chandel district have vehemently condemned the Hengshi ambush in which six AR jawans were killed on Sunday and condoled the demise of the AR jawans.
The Kuki bodies also urged the AR personnel to release those villagers allegedly rounded up after the incident and not to harass innocent villagers of the area.
In a joint statement, the Kuki Chiefs' Association (KCA) Khengjoi Block, Thadou Students' Association (TSA) Chandel district and KSO Khengjoi Block strongly condemned the attack on Assam Rifles personnel near Hengshi village thereby disturbing the peace and tranquillity in the area.
Attacking security forces near a village not only creates fear psychosis in the mind of the villagers of the area particularly to the women and children, it also severely affects the daily activities of the poor villagers who are living hand to mouth, said the Kuki bodies.
Moreover, carrying out such an attack in the area, instead of helping the villagers, who are still reeling under acute hardship due to last year's multiple landslides was totally uncalled for, said the statement.
The Kuki CSOs also urged the responsible armed militants and other militant groups not to carry out such attacks in the area in future.
The CSOs also appealed to the Assam Rifles personnel to safely release those villagers allegedly rounded up after the incident and not to harass innocent villagers of the area.
