IFC Minister Letpao Haokip has stated that developmental projects should be implemented taking into account the betterment for the people and these projects should be completed in time witouht any delay.
He made the statement at a welcome ceremony organised by Youth Development Organisation at Heinoukhongnembi Konjeng Lamdong Leikai today.
Speaking at the event, the Minister urged the engineers and contractors in charge of various projects to think for the betterment of the people while performing their duties and to prevent delays.
He pointed out that he himself had assessed the condition of Dolaithabi project and found it almost complete adding that the project had stalled due to unavailability of some materials as a result of the economic blockade.
He said that he had urged the engineers and contractors concerned to finish the pending work at the earliest by sourcing the requisite materials within 15 days as the blockade has already been lifted.
The Minister also spoke about Mapithel Dam which he claimed was yet to be completed.
Letpao also said that almost 90 percent of Thoubal dam is complete and the work progress is encouraging but the main problem is that the people of the area want more compensation than was agreed between the then Government of the time.
The Minister assured adequate compensation and low cost housing facilities for the affected people in collaboration with Resettlement and Rehabilitation Department and further appealed to the people to enable the completion of the dam.
Speaking about sports, Letpao Haokip said that only those staying near the Khuman Lampak Stadium get the benefit of the establishment while those from remote areas of the State are unable to do so.
He claimed that he had appealed to the Central Government to provide at least a proper ground if not a stadium for every Leikai.
The Minister also expressed gratitude to YDO for the event and pointed out that YDO has been a huge part of his life.
Letpao Haokip was the mid field player for YDO, 23 years ago, and in 1994, he won the Best Player title in the All India Invitation Football Match which was organised at Utlou.
Ex-president of AMWJU Wangkhemcha Shamjai, YDO president Maibam Kumar Singh, vice president RK Samer Singh, Upa Adakshya (Imphal West) Th Saratchandra Singh and other personlaities were also present at the event.
