Imphal, November 22 2011:
Goods worth around Rs 2 lakhs have been robbed off a RIMS Professor by an unidentified youth who posed posing as a UG cadre.
The incident happened at RIMS Surgery Department at about 1.50 pm today.
The Professor victimised through trickery has been identified as one Haobam Manihar (58) of Yaiskul Chingakham Leirak.
The unidentified youth robbed gold chain, gold rings and mobile handset of Prof Manihar.
According to report given to police by Prof Manihar, he was working in his department after his OPD hours.
At about 1.50 pm, one unidentified youth barged into the room and said that he was a UG cadre and that he could not find any way out after a gun-fight with commandos.
He appealed to the Professor to give him shelter for a few minutes.
Taking the words of the youth, Prof Manihar allowed him to stay in his room without informing any one.
Saying that Prof Manihar would also fall into trouble in case he is apprehended by commandos, the youth tied Prof Manihar's hands and legs to a chair and blindfolded the Professor to pretend that he was holding the Professor hostage and that the Professor was not giving shelter to a UG cadre.
After this, the youth removed the gold chains, rings and mobile phone from the Professor saying that they would be put in the pocket of his coat.
But moments later, no sound of the youth's presence in the room could be heard.
A few minutes later, some staff of the department came into the room and removed the blindfold and untied the Professor from the chair.
But when Prof Manihar checked his pockets, he found neither his gold rings nor chain nor mobile phone, Prof Manihar narrated in his report given to police.
