Kangpokpi, February 22 2015:
The Joint Action Committee on Kadangband killing today resolved to suspend the ongoing economic blockade with immediate effect while cautioning the State Government that an extreme agitation might be launched any time from any place depending on the sincerity of the magisterial enquiry report.
The decision to suspend the ongoing stir of the JAC came after a joint meeting was held between the JAC and various Kuki civil bodies at Imphal today.
Accusing the State Government of neglecting the issue, JAC convener Thangminlen Haokip said that had the Government shown some concern on the issue and felt the sentiments of the agitators, the 5 day economic blockade may not have been launched in the first place.
He added that during the blockade, no untoward incident occurred and all the truck owners/drivers extended co-operation to the JAC.
The convener also claimed that during the blockade, the JAC had taken utmost care to provide an atmosphere conducive enough for the students to appear for their exams without any problem.
