Imphal, October 21 2011: Following a dispute over land, a 75 year old man hacked his daughter-in-law causing grievous injuries after which the assailant was pulled up by police.

Wahengbam Gulamjat (75) of Ghari Makha Leikai, Imphal West district hacked his daughter-in-law Wahengbam (O) Ashalata (45, wife of Chaotombi) in their own courtyard at about 6.40 am today.

Ashalata who is an attendant in a private school is currently undergoing treatment at RIMS.

On the other hand, Gulamjat has been arrested by police.

The local people have also decided to banish Ghulamjat from their locality for three years.

In case Ghulamjat dares to enter into Ghari Makha Leikai in the next three years, he would expelled from the locality for good.

Moreover, if any untoward incidents happens to Ashalata, the whole responsibility should be borne by Ghulamjat, said another resolution adopted by the local people.
