Kangpokpi, July 21 2022:
Civil society organisations of Kangpokpi town have served a fourday ultimatum to the health department over the shortage of staff nurses and other manpower in the District Hospital, Kangpokpi.
The decision was taken during a joint meeting of CSOs of Kangpokpi and the local town bodies at the district headquarters on Thursday.
The joint meeting cried foul over the state government's lukewarm attitude and strongly condemned the health department's failure to address the long pending demand for adequate posting of nursing and other support staff of the district hospital.
The meeting highlighted that 14 staff nurses have been sanctioned as per MGEL sanctioned posts at the district hospital, but till now only four staff nurses are posted, and unfortunately one has been posted at PHSC, Parsain, which means only three staff nurses are available at the district hospital.
Apart from the acute shortage of staff nurses, out of 3 sanctioned LDC posts, none is available at present and only one ambulance driver is being posted out of 2 sanctioned posts.
Despite one sanctioned post of choukidar there is none in the district hospital, while only one sweeper is available out of two sanctioned posts and only one available out of three Grade-IV sanctioned posts.
The joint meeting expressed dismay that in-spite of the matter frequently brought to the notice of the higher authority and recently to the health minister, nothing has been initiated to redress the long pending grievances of the people by the authority concerned.
"Considering the lukewarm attitude of the health department and the state government, the joint
meeting has decided to express our discontentment and unhappiness in the form of intense protest," said Thangtinlen Haokip, general secretary KSO Sadar Hills.
